Who we are!
First 4 Sports is a small family business which has been developed since 1993. In the early years, football was the key business, prompted by Director and Owner, Colin Smith, who had just retired after 15 years as a professional footballer including 6 years with Aldershot FC.
Colin was one of the youngest coaches to gain The Football Association Advanced License Coach Award at the age of 22. He ran his first company called Colin Smith Soccer Schools for 10 years and was a key figure in the establishment nationwide of Mini Soccer, the, small sided version of children’s football. Colin also acted as an FA Tutor delivering Coaching Courses to adults wanting to get involved in football.
He has been teaching swimming since gaining his ASA Level 2 award in 1993 and more recently, gaining the Club Coach Award (Level 3) in 2008.
It was also in 1993 that Colin was offered the position of Head of PE at The Grey House School in Hartley Wintney. Since this time, Colin has transformed the sport provision in the school and more notably, he has developed a swimming programme for the school which has been acclaimed on more than 20 occasions by the English Schools Swimming Association. These national awards recognise the overall achievement of the school, placing The Grey House in the top hand full of schools across the country for their progress in swimming during the past 10 years.
The school swimming team have also been successful over the past decade, winning the ESSA Primary School Relay Championships on numerous occasions and the coveted award of Top School on 5 occasions.
This outstanding teaching programme has been adapted to suit the needs of the First 4 Sports children taking part in our lessons. We are seeing children reach a very high standard of swimming in a relatively short space of time. Hence our Motto;
