THE HISTORY OF FIRST 4 SPORTS SWIMMING CAMPS

First 4 Sports have been organising and running swimming camps for over six years. Initially our camps were based at The Military Garrison 50m pool in Aldershot, Hampshire. Over the past two years we have expanded our camps throughout the United Kingdom including Loughborough University (home to British Swimming) in Leicestershire, Stirling University ( home to Scottish swimming) and the Wales National Pool in Swansea to name but a few. Our forthcoming projects will be focussing on the same principles and will be operating in the areas of East Anglia, the Midlands and the North of England.

We operate two types of camp; a day camp where swimmers come and go each day and a residential camp where swimmers have the opportunity to stay on site for the duration of the camp. On both types of camp we provide staff to ensure the well-being of our clients. On residential camps we provide security cleared personnel to care for the swimmers who not only ensure all Health & Safety requirements are met but also involve themselves in the post-swimming activities that have been organised. All residential courses are on a full-board basis with dietary options offered to everybody. Day only swimmers are permitted on a residential camp but booking preference is given to those choosing the residential option.

First 4 Sports have successfully completed over 50 swim camps, featuring top class coaches along with guest swimmers such as Katy Sexton. Our aim is to bring to the poolside both experience and quality, with the result being an invaluable experience for the developing club swimmer.

Recent developments include the use of video analysis and the production of an individual DVD to take back to show friends, family and of course the swimmer's coach.

Our Head Coaches are sourced with meticulous care and bring with them special and unique qualities to our camps. A role call of our coaches includes:

Gary Rosser – Head Coach of the Wales National Team
David Terry – University of Portsmouth Head Swimming Coach, former Portsmouth Northsea Swimming Club Coach, former Head Coach of The Royal Navy’s Competitive Swimming Teams.
Jon Rudd and Amanda Booth – World Class Starts Coaches
Tim Westlake – Boston Swimming Club
Graham Pople – Havant & Waterlooville Swimming Club
Rosa Gallop – coach to Sara Hardcastle and Sharron Davies.

All have impressive local and international experience and all, without exception, are experts at transferring their knowledge to our young swimmers in a productive and enjoyable manner.

Through our swimming world connections and our coaches’ contacts, our demonstrators number amongst the best swimmers in the United Kingdom today. Katy Sexton - World Champion and Olympic finalist, Simon Militis – GB Olympian and Commonwealth medallist, Greg Orphanidies – World Masters Champion to name but a few are among the many National Champions that have taken part in one our camps. At the Wales National Pool we were visited by some of the GB Paralympics Swim Squad including four times Athens Gold medallist David Roberts who captivated our swimmers during a question and answers session.

We firmly believe that by sourcing the best that swimming can offer we are in a unique position to provide excellent camps and fulfil our objective.
